How thankful are you for the previous year? How are you feeling now that we are going into a new year? What plans do you have for this year? Are you grateful for all the things you have learnt in the past year? There are so many things that we can learn in a year and to be thankful for. This year we may have had struggled but we need to be thankful that we have had people around to support us, this year we may have lost our job but we should be thankful that we have everything we need, we may be grieving someone but we need to be thankful for all those other people around us, we may have some money problems but we need to be thankful for those people who provide for us. Last year may have been tough and we may want to see the backend of the year but we have to be thankful that we have lasted another year and we need to be willing to learn from the things that have not gone well.

This is a new year where we can press the re-start button, we can do things that we haven’t been able to do before, we can experience new things, we can help others out, we can learn about new places but most of all this is an opportunity for us to learn more about ourselves. This next year we can learn more about ourselves and those people around us. We can see what the future has in store and we can learn how to deal with certain people and circumstances. For the next year we need to be thankful that we have another year to live, we need to be thankful for every morning we wake up and have another day to live. Some days will be harder than others but you know what that is life-if it was easy then we would not learn and we would not grow and develop as people.

Each day that we live is another day to be joyful, it is another day to be thankful and it is another day to make the most of what we have been given. The last few years have been hard with Covid-19, new leaders, home schooling and different changes but this is a new year that we need to grasp with both hands and be willing to learn more about ourselves. No matter what this year brings you need to know that last year may not have been your best but make sure that you make this year your own and learn more about yourself. You don’t have to be put in a corner and be sad that a new year has started. However, this year is a year that you are able to grasp with both hands and be willing to learn.

Its 2023, 3 years since we had covid-19, we have a new Prime Minister, we have had to deal with different things and we need to know that although things change, people come and go, you move and people grow up there is One who does not grow up, there is One who does not leave us, there is One who keeps us going when we feel that we are loosing. The One is there when your friends leave, the One is there when you loose your job, there is One who is there when you are lost, there is One who gives us strength, there is One who protects us, there is One who we can call father and there is One who we can come to at anytime of the day or night and He will listen.

Jesus came into this world so that we can start afresh, we can become someone who we have not been before, we can grow and develop in a way that we may not have seen before. As you go into this year when things have changed, when things are different remember that God is with you throughout everything, God is with you through the easy and tough times and He will be with you until the end of your days. All you have to do is to trust in Him and rely on His love for you. To begin with it will be hard but over time you will realise that God is the only One that you can truly rely and trust in. As you start 2023 maybe it is time to start trusting in Jesus.
