Blog 433: Why is tomorrow good?

Good Friday

Do you know what this weekend is? Are you just excited to have four days of work? We al love a free day of work but do we know what this weekend represents or are we just ready to get out and be with our family? This weekend is not about the Easter eggs or the Easter bunny or the roast lamb or time with family or even time of work but instead this weekend has a more significant meaning. This weekend maybe the time when we are able to see people and spend time with different family members but it is also a time when we need to reflect on the events that happened many thousands of years ago. We need to realise that this weekend isn’t like any other weekend, it is special, it is something that we need to remember and it is something that we need to think long and hard about.

Tomorrow is Good Friday, tomorrow is the time when we think about the death that Jesus had we think about the cross that Jesus was nailed to, we think about the crowds that chanted to kill Jesus, we think about His mother who stood by watching her son be put to death, we think about the disciples who scattered, we think about the pain Jesus was in, we think about the reason as to why Jesus was put to death. Jesus was a perfect man. Jesus was fully God. Jesus had done nothing wrong. Jesus had not uttered a bad word. Jesus was still put to death and was killed by those people He created.

Jesus was killed not because He was a sinner but to save sinners. Jesus was killed not to be nearer to God but so that we can be nearer to God. Jesus was killed not that He could live forever but we could live forever. Jesus was killed not because He needed to be saved but because we needed to be saved. Jesus was killed not so that He could have eternal family but so that we are able to have eternal family. Jesus was killed not so because He needed to feel better but so that we are able to know that we are saved. Jesus died for all the things we have done wrong, for all the thoughts we have thought, for all the things we have said and for all the acts we have done. He died so that we are able to come to God, He died so that we are able to be part of a family, He died so that we won’t be judged for all eternity.

Tomorrow is Good Friday for a reason, who do you know who would die willingly for you? Who do you know who is totally perfect? Who do you know who would be beaten for you to be saved? Who do you know who would be pierced in the hands and feet for you? Who do you know who would die a painful death? Who do you know who when they die would make the whole earth black? Who do you know who would be so perfect but they still had to die? Jesus was so perfect but He still went to the cross for us. Jesus was so perfect but He still had His hands and feet pierced. Jesus was so perfect that He wants you a non perfect human being to be part of His family. Jesus was so perfect that He wants you to know that you are loved. Jesus was so perfect that even on your best days He is still with you. Jesus was so perfect that He accepts everyone no matter what has happened in your life. Jesus was so perfect that God sent Him to this unperfect world. Jesus was so perfect and still is so perfect.

As we go into tomorrow think about the man who was fully God who dies for you. Think about the man who came down to this earth so that you can have eternal life. Think about the pain that Jesus went through so that you don’t have to go through pain in eternity. Think about the pain so that you can have a family. Think about the waist that was stabbed so that one day you are able to have a perfect body. Think about the things that you have done that sent Jesus to the cross. Think about the things that you could do better. Most of all think about the love that was poured out for you so that you are able to be loved for the rest of your life and you are able t live with Jesus forever.
