Blog 362: Keep communicating

keep communication

Do you find it hard to communicate? To talk about your feelings? To talk about your emotions? A lot of us find it hard to communicate with one another and we find it hard to really talk about how we are feeling. There are a lot of people who will not talk about anything and then there are a lot of people who will talk about everything but go round in circles about how they are feeling rather than going straight to the point! No matter who you are and what has happened in your life it is important to talk about how you are feeling with someone that you trust, this may be a family member, a spouse or a professional. Whether or not you like communicating, life is all about communication and so you need to be able to talk to many different people.

When it comes to anything in life we need to be able to communicate with many things and being married communication is just as important as any other thing. No matter what you are going through, how you are feeling, who you are with you need to learn to communicate otherwise you will not understand each other which can lead to many other situations and sometime divorce. Many people find it hard to communicate with each other because they have different emotions, different jobs, different feelings but most importantly we are different genders. Men and women think differently, they act differently and they have different interests. In being different genders and marrying a different gender we then realise that we are different and we communicate in different ways.

Men seem to not want to talk about their emotions, they want to keep everything to themselves whereas women are more likely to talk about how they are feeling to anyone and everyone. We all know that women talk a lot more than men and so it is often hard when we as women don’t get anything back from our men. We tend to have more emotion and so it can be hard when we get resistance from the males in our lives. When we are married it is important to talk about feelings and not to inundate our males with so much emotion! We often find it hard to keep our emotions in check and can come out with so many words and so many tears and it can be hard to communicate when we are so wound up with our emotions. Sometimes we need to speak ‘male’ language and express our thoughts and feelings in a simpler way. However sometimes men need to communicate in a more emotional way so that we are able to understand. It can be very hard and there is a very fine line that we both need to be careful with the words that we say to each other.

As a wife, I don’t know about you, but I like to know what my husband is thinking, what his thoughts are, why he is doing certain things but I have learnt over the years that we have been together not to ask questions about anything and everything! It has been a hard thing to come to terms with and we have had some rough patches but we have come through it and we have now been able to understand each other better. I am not one for talking about my feelings but I get moody instead. Now I have learnt how to talk about my feelings. My husband didn’t used to talk to me about the small things in life but he now knows that I like to know things and so he talks to me about them which I find great and blessed by. We often find it hard to hear the other person say that they would like to talk about emotions but we are often caught up in our own thoughts that we are not able to talk to other people about their thoughts. We need to give the other person time of the day to talk, to understand them but most importantly we need to continue to communicate with those people around us.

We all find it hard to communicate and we often fail to see what the other persons needs and emotions. We need to take one step at a time and we need to talk about things that can be worrying and to get things of our mind no matter how small they are. Our partners and people we know may not understand what we are going through but God does and we can come to Him at any time of the day or night. He understands our emotions and He understands our thoughts and we need to trust fully in Him and His love for us.
